We are delighted to announce that Nabil Musa, a dedicated advocate from Waterkeepers Iraq, has once again made a significant impact on the global stage at the Waterkeeper Alliance International Regional Summit held in Sweden from June 4th to 8th, 2023. Nabil's passionate commitment to safeguarding our environment was evident as he engaged with fellow waterkeepers, fostering meaningful discussions on critical topics. Drawing attention to the detrimental effects of large-scale dams such as Ilisu and Ataturk dams in Turkey, Nabil shed light on the negative impacts on ecosystems and communities. Additionally, he emphasized the damaging consequences of gravel mining in riverbeds, highlighting the urgent need for responsible practices in this sector.
During the summit, Nabil also took the opportunity to showcase the remarkable projects undertaken by Waterkeepers Iraq in recent years. These initiatives have focused on addressing environmental challenges and promoting sustainable practices, leaving a lasting impact on the local communities and ecosystems we serve.
The entire Waterkeepers Iraq team takes immense pride in Nabil's outstanding contributions at the Waterkeeper Alliance Regional Summit. We stand united in our commitment to support his tireless efforts as he continues to raise awareness and advocate for a sustainable future for our precious water resources. Stay connected with us for updates on this influential summit, and join us in our mission to protect and preserve our shared global water heritage.
Together, let us build a better tomorrow for the health and well-being of our environment and future generations.
