Ahmed Wahab

He is a professional football player, and has been working with Waterkeeper for more than 5 years. He has been working since he was 14 at Dukan Lake, and he has a lot of experience in environmental events.

Hazhar Star


Hazhar is a graduate of physical education and sports science college in  Sulaymaniyah. He is a professional swimmer of Sulaymaniyah University and the player of the club and the field of Dukan sports club. He has  experience of 8 years now in dukan sports club

Nabil Musa

Nabil left Iraqi-Kurdistan in 1996 and walked for four years to reach Europe where he became an actor and activist for refugee rights. He returned to Iraq in 2007 and remained there because of his passion for the environment and desire to protect the rivers of his homeland from pollution and destruction. To date, he is leading the non- government organization Waterkeepers Iraq-Kurdistan. Waterkeepers Iraq-Kurdistan focuses advocacy and awareness raising for protection of river and waterways of Tigris basin in Iraqi Kurdistan. The program is affiliated with the international Waterkeepers Alliance, witch has 352 river, bay, sound and costal advocates across the globe. Waterkeepers Iraq-Kurdistan is the first affiliate Waterkeeper in the Middle East.

Zainab Mirza

she is an educator, she has a lot of experience in tour guiding, and she is helping and assisting the club with marketing, she has a degree in biology

He was born in 1988, he works a swimming coach. From 2014, he has been teaching  many courses about swimming and rescuing.

He is Nabeel's  nephew from his childhood, he has been volunteering with other swimmers , and he has experiences with kayaking, paddling, hiking, and has is a student of information technology institute at the same time.

Tara Muhammed

she is born in Sulaymaniyah city of Kurdistan Region of Iraq .she holds Diploma and Bachelor degrees in Fine Arts, graduated from University of Sulaymaniyah in 2020.she is working on issues regarding Women’s Rights, Environment, Cancer and Mental Hospital Patients, and LGBT+. her works are versatile and have different mediums because she uses different tools to deliver my message through art, this could be oil, acrylic, water color paintings, graphics design, sculpture and book design as well as installations and campaigns. her studio is located in Culture Factory in Sulaymaniyah city which serves as a workshop and also a gallery.

Sara Eleonora

is a psychotherapist, trauma informed yoga teacher and guide. She has a Masters in Narrative Therapy and Community work. Sara is passionate about protecting the environment and reconnecting humanity with nature as a form of healing.

About Us




​Experience Wilderness
 
We are a group of environmental activists from the Kurdistan Region in Iraq, after witnessing the destruction of the environment through pollution and war we are committed to repairing the relationship between humanity and our natural environment.
 
The Experience Wilderness Club offers a range of opportunities to reconnect to the environment through paddle boarding, swimming, kayaking, rafting, caving and hiking. Our experiences are environmentally sustainable, with minimal waste and footprint on the landscape, each experience offers an opportunity to learn about the unique history and ecosystems in the Kurdistan region, as well as key steps that individuals can take to reduce their impact on the environment.
 
We offer experiences that reflect on the group’s relationship with nature, space to heal and reconnect with the natural world as well as excitement and learning new skills. The Experience Wilderness Club offers a unique lens to view the world through, guides are seasoned environmental activists and sports enthusiasts through their eyes you will have an opportunity to see the world in a new way, as well as reconnect to what is essentially human.
 
Our Wilderness Experiences are tailored to your needs and we offer a range of challenges, from easy hikes and paddle boarding to multi day rafting or hiking experiences. Experiences include training and all equipment including required safety equipment.
 
Prices are available when you contact the club, a portion of the costs go to sustainable environmental initiatives in Kurdistan.

Mountain The mountains are our journey. They represent our path as humans, stepping over obstacles and challenging our bodies to reach the summit. It's a journey towards more understanding with our mother nature. Walking in the mountains will show you beauty never experienced before. Mountains will help you to have a break from your routine way of thinking, finding peace of mind and relaxation. Come with us, challenge your mid and body to experience new heights.

Cave Have you ever thought about humans original home? Caves have been a homeland and protection for humanity since the beginning of our species, return to the original home in the darkness. Challenge yourself to sit quietly in silence, being one with the inner cavities of the earth.


​Return home Come with us and experience where we came from, experience the darkness of caves and emerge transformed. Rafting and Kayaking Experience freedom when you float along the river. Rivers represent life, with twists and turns rapids representing the chaos of human experiences. Learn to flow with the river, ride the rapids and watch life pass by. All life intersects with the river, come with us to explore the calmness and chaos of the river.
