Outreach & Education
Educations and Awareness-raising is a key activity that cuts across all project activities of Waterkeepers Iraq. These initiatives have focused on riverside communities, school kids, local municipality and other government staff, university students and teachers and the general public. Several short videos have come out of the waterkeeper activities designed to bring an understanding of these issues to a wider audience. Film projects such as "The Waterkeeper" have used art and theatre to bring the core message of river conservation and preservation to students, teachers and community members. Events such as World Water Day (22 March) and the annual Nawruz Holiday in Kurdistan Iraq (20 March) have been key outreach events of Waterkeepers Iraq.
