Waterkeepers Iraq - Kurdistan continues its search and inspections and in the continuation of visiting different parts of Kurdistan and the region, we visited the town of Darbandikhan and its surroundings. These areas are severely threatened by environmental and human factors. The town's sewage and garbage are discharged directly into the streams and dams, leading to extreme pollution that impacts humans and all living organisms in the region. A local resident mentioned that he has visited Dewana Dam multiple times for fishing, but all the fish had worms in their stomachs, making them inedible. Additionally, the water is so contaminated that swimming is not an option.
